Fervence Hails from U.S.A.
Did take some listening’s before I did get the whole picture of the music Fervence plays. The mix of all genres this band uses to make their own style, can be a bit confusing. We hear progressive metal, metal core, alternative metal and even rock. The singer, Stevie Van Oosten, uses her voice, for both beauty and beast. And this lady can really sound like a beast, and when she uses her clean voice…so much beauty.
The intensity, mixed with all emotions when it comes to this band’s music, is not a walk in the park. All the rhythm changes, from really hard metal, to such a fragile music is amazing.
The lyrics are really deep and based upon philosophy, real life, and the existential questions are about the conditions of human life: that all of us who live will one day die, what meaning each of us has in our lives, what meaning – if any – there is in what happens to us. The questions can also be about things like loneliness and community, safety and trust, grief, guilt and forgiveness. for example, the opening track Hezekiah / Realm One end’s with the words: «The word Hezekiah ultimately translates to God is my Strength. This song focuses on death/non-existence. In essence, Death is my Strength, or at least it is the energy that drives most of the major milestone decisions in my life, it seems» – Austin Bentley.
There is alsophilosophy in the lyrics:
«Reality escapes all concepts.
If you say there is a God, that’s a concept.
If you say there is no God, that’s a concept.»
«They break so many rules in metal, and we need that.»
I have not really heard anything like Fervence before, first listening, gives you a feeling of Metal core, but that goes away fast after the second listening, and you start to think progressive metal/rock. I really like it and I give it 9 out of 10. They break so many rules in metal, and we need that.
9/10
