«Unfortunately, there is just no stopping the annoyingly productive purveyors of all things dark and melancholy known as Picture Ann, i.e. the exponents of lo-fi post-rock and dark ambient drones of the rather dense variety. The latest output titled Promising Oddities is essentially an odds-and-sods collection of tracks and ideas that somehow failed to make an appearance on previous albums and EPs for one or more reasons. That is not to say that they are shite, though, and the songs perfectly display the different nuances, experimental nature, and brooding qualities of Picture Ann’s work. A thoroughly atmospheric compilation consisting of the unwanted and the unnerving, if you will.»
